Police appeal after vandalism at Fountains Abbey, Shrewsbury's Abbey Church

Fountains Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Yorkshire, was vandalized with graffiti between February 14 and February 17, leading to significant damage to its medieval plasterwork. The phrase 'Don't steal drugs' was painted in oil-based white paint on the abbey and nearby St Mary's Church, prompting North Yorkshire Police to launch an investigation. A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and remains in custody as police seek further information from the public.
