Lil Durk Arrested on Murder-for-Hire Charges

Lil Durk, the Grammy-winning rapper, is in federal custody following his arrest in Miami on murder-for-hire charges linked to a 2022 plot against rival rapper Quando Rondo. Sources indicate that Durk, whose real name is Durk Devontay Banks, is in good spirits and getting along well with fellow inmates, although he has expressed dissatisfaction with the prison food. The charges stem from an alleged retaliation for the 2020 murder of his friend King Von, and an indictment has been filed against five associates of Durk’s Only the Family collective, who are accused of carrying out the attack that resulted in the death of Rondo's cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. Durk attempted to flee the U.S. prior to his arrest, with multiple international flights booked but ultimately did not board any. The mayor of Broadview, Illinois, has withdrawn an honorary key granted to Durk, reflecting the community's disapproval following his arrest. Durk is expected to face arraignment in federal court in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
