Liza Minnelli Honored at Drag Race Finale
Liza Minnelli, an EGOT-winning entertainer and LGBTQ+ icon, will be honored with the Giving Us Lifetime Achievement Award during the Season 17 finale of RuPaul's Drag Race on April 18. Minnelli, recognized for her contributions to the world of entertainment and her lasting impact as a gay icon, will be the third recipient of this award, following Bob Mackie and Cassandra Peterson. The show, which has expanded globally since its debut in 2009, continues to celebrate the art of drag and has maintained top cable ratings among viewers aged 18-34 and 18-49. Season 17 has been particularly successful, with the current competition featuring queens such as Sam Star, Suzie Toot, and Lexi Love vying for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar and a $200,000 prize. RuPaul's Drag Race has also engaged in activism, supporting LGBTQ+ rights through initiatives like the Drag Defense Fund. Minnelli's appearance underscores the show's ongoing homage to cultural icons who have supported the LGBTQ+ community.
