Police Seize Nearly £1 Million Cannabis Hauls in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland
Police in Scotland and Northern Ireland have made significant drug busts uncovering large cannabis cultivation operations worth nearly £1 million in Shotts, North Lanarkshire, and £500,000 in Lurgan, Northern Ireland. In Shotts, officers raided a derelict shop on High Street, seizing hundreds of cannabis plants with an estimated street value of approximately £997,800, leading to the arrest of a 51-year-old man who is due to appear in court. Sergeant John Logan highlighted these recoveries as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal drug activities and emphasized the role of the public in supporting police work. In Lurgan, the PSNI dismantled a sophisticated and fundamentally dangerous underground cannabis farm, arresting three men aged 27, 55, and 69, with the operation described as highly engineered and requiring multi-agency cooperation to ensure safety. Meanwhile, Bedfordshire Police in England also seized about 1,200 cannabis plants from a warehouse in Luton after alerts from utility and fire services, with investigations continuing. Authorities across these regions are urging communities to report any information related to illegal drug activities to help combat the problem.
