China's Car Sales Surge 26% in February 2025

Car sales in Indonesia experienced a year-on-year increase of 2.2% in January 2025, reaching 72,295 units, after a decline in December 2024. The Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (GAIKINDO) has set a sales target for 2025 between 750,000 and 900,000 units, reflecting potential market challenges. Meanwhile, China's automotive market has seen significant growth, with wholesale sales of passenger cars reaching a record high of 1.7 million units in February 2025, driven by government incentives and stable pricing from manufacturers. Retail sales in China also surged 26% to 1.38 million units, with electric vehicle sales skyrocketing 79.7%. The strong performance in both markets indicates a recovery in consumer demand, albeit with varying challenges and dynamics in each region.
