Nigerian Heritage Women Rise as WNBA Stars, Union Leaders

Several women of Nigerian heritage are making significant impacts in the WNBA, exemplified by players like Michaela Onyenwere, a former UCLA standout who transitioned from aspiring dentist to professional basketball star with the Chicago Sky, and Arike Ogunbowale, known for her clutch scoring and All-Star performances. Veterans such as Natasha Howard and Nneka Ogwumike continue to influence the league through their defensive prowess and leadership; Ogwumike, in particular, serves as the president of the WNBPA and is actively involved in negotiating a pivotal collective bargaining agreement.
