PolyU plans to establish Hong Kong's third medical school

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is actively working to establish the city's third medical school, pledging to cover all financial costs associated with its development, which is expected to be located in the Northern Metropolis. Council Chairman Lam Tai-fai emphasized that neither the current nor the future government would need to contribute financially before the school's opening. The proposed curriculum will focus on artificial intelligence, community-based healthcare, and preventive medicine, aligning with the latest advancements in medical education. PolyU President Teng Jinguang highlighted the university's 45 years of experience in healthcare education and its commitment to innovative and sustainable training for future medical professionals. The school aims to recruit top students and will incorporate AI-driven, student-centered teaching methods into its four-year program. PolyU is one of three institutions vying for approval from the government, with evaluations expected to conclude later this year.
