Pan Mass Challenge Unites 6,500 Cyclists Across Eight Countries
Several cycling events and challenges are currently underway or planned, often with a focus on raising funds for cancer research and other charitable causes. Jean Fisher of Westfield recently completed her 20th Pan Mass Challenge, cycling 186 miles to raise over $37,000 in total for the Dana Farber Institute, inspired by a family member's cancer journey. The Medical College of Wisconsin hosted its inaugural Audaxity bike ride, involving over 900 participants and multiple course options, with all funds supporting cancer research at the MCW Cancer Center. In New Zealand, the 2026 Elite Road Cycling National Championships will feature challenging lap courses between Te Awamutu and Cambridge, including Para Cycling events integrated for the first time, promising a competitive and fan-friendly event. Meanwhile, Canadian cyclist Michael 'Rusty' Woods announced his retirement after a distinguished career that uniquely combined elite running and cycling achievements. Lastly, a team of eight cyclists will undertake the North Coast 500 challenge in September, cycling approximately 100 miles per day over five days to support Heather’s Heroes, raising awareness and funds for local charities linked to cancer support.
