7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Argentina Coast
A powerful 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck off the southern coast of Argentina near Ushuaia, as confirmed by the United States Geological Survey. The tremor occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers and was recorded south of Ushuaia in the Drake Passage. Despite the earthquake's strength, only one report of it being felt was received at the time of publication, and the U.S. National Weather Service stated that a tsunami was not expected. The event follows other recent seismic activity in the region, including a 6.8-magnitude earthquake near Macquarie Island and a 4.7-magnitude quake in Alaska earlier in the week.
