Patriots Activate Barmore, Waive Thornton

Christian Barmore, defensive tackle for the New England Patriots, has been activated from the non-football illness list after being sidelined since July due to blood clots. Barmore, who had a breakout season in 2023 with 8.5 sacks, practiced for the first time this week and is expected to play a limited role in the game against the Los Angeles Rams. To make room for Barmore, the Patriots waived wide receiver Tyquan Thornton. Barmore's return is anticipated to bolster the Patriots' defense, particularly in the run game and pass rush. Despite his absence, Barmore had remained involved with the team and was recently rewarded with a four-year contract extension worth up to $92 million. His activation comes as the Patriots look to strengthen their defensive line for the remainder of the season.
