Cineplex Reports December Box Office Surge

Cineplex Inc. announced it will release its fourth quarter and year-end 2024 financial results on February 11, 2025, followed by an earnings webcast led by its CEO and CFO. The company reported December box office revenues of $64.8 million, up 125% from the previous year and 86% of pre-pandemic levels from December 2019, driven by the success of movies like 'Wicked' and 'Moana 2.' 'Wicked' has become the highest-grossing film based on a Broadway musical, while 'Moana 2' ranks among the top ten highest-grossing animated films domestically. Combined box office and concession revenues reached $112 million, representing 129% of December 2023 totals. Cineplex's CEO highlighted the importance of diverse content and upcoming release schedules to continue attracting audiences in 2025. The company's operations span 168 theatres and various entertainment venues across Canada, employing over 10,000 people.
