Guadagnino Plans AI Drama 'Artificial' With Garfield, Barbaro In Talks

Luca Guadagnino is set to direct 'Artificial,' a new film centered on the dramatic 2023 events at OpenAI when CEO Sam Altman was briefly fired and then reinstated. The project, produced by David Heyman, Jeffrey Clifford, and Jennifer Fox, features a script by Simon Rich and aims to capture both the high-stakes corporate chaos and absurdity of that moment. Andrew Garfield, Monica Barbaro, and Oscar-nominated Yura Borisov are in early talks to star, with filming expected to begin later this year. Guadagnino pivoted to this project after his planned DC Studios film 'Sgt. Rock' was delayed. 'Artificial' marks a departure from Guadagnino's usual romantic and psychological genres, exploring the Silicon Valley boardroom drama. The film reunites Guadagnino with Garfield, who also stars in Guadagnino’s upcoming 'After the Hunt.'
