Woman Fatally Shot in Philadelphia Center City, Suspect in Custody

A woman was fatally shot on the 1200 block of Chestnut Street in Center City Philadelphia on Friday evening. Police responded around 5:49 p.m. and found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound; she was transported to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital but was pronounced dead at 7:18 p.m. Authorities apprehended one suspect near 13th and Clover Streets, who allegedly discarded the gun, with a second man involved also taken into custody.
