Israeli Strikes Kill Dozens in Gaza Amid 58,000+ War Deaths, Ceasefire Talks Stall
Israeli airstrikes in the Gaza Strip have killed at least 30 to 32 people, including multiple children, amid deadlocked ceasefire negotiations between Israel and Hamas. A particularly tragic strike targeted a water collection point in the Nuseirat refugee camp, killing six to seven children and several adults waiting for essential drinking water, which the Israeli military attributed to a technical malfunction while aiming at an Islamic Jihad militant. Overall, the Palestinian death toll has surpassed 58,000 after 21 months of conflict, with over half of the casualties being women and children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Despite ongoing indirect talks to pause the war and discuss hostage releases, Israel insists on Hamas's unconditional surrender and disarmament, while Hamas demands a full Israeli withdrawal in exchange for freeing hostages. The violence has also surged in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, with recent fatalities including Palestinian-American Sayfollah Musallet killed by Israeli settlers. The Israeli military expressed regret for civilian casualties and continues to target militant infrastructure, but the humanitarian crisis worsens as water shortages and civilian harm escalate.
