CN Plans $20M Indiana, $30M Tennessee Rail Investments 2025
Canadian National Railway (CN) has announced plans to invest approximately $20 million in Indiana in 2025 as part of its capital investment program focused on track maintenance, infrastructure upgrades, capacity expansion, and rolling stock improvements. This investment aims to enhance the safety and efficiency of goods transportation while supporting sustainable economic growth in Indiana and across CN's broader North American network. In 2024, CN invested about $28 million in Indiana, including over $2 million for upgrades at its Kirk railyard and $400,000 for equipment purchases. CN's continued investments underscore its commitment to network resiliency, operational excellence, and support for key industries like manufacturing and agriculture in Indiana. The company operates 102 miles of rail routes in Indiana, employs around 419 people there, and contributes significantly to the local economy through spending and tax payments. CN’s CEO, Tracy Robinson, emphasized that these infrastructure investments are critical for building for the future and delivering exceptional service to customers and supply chain partners.
