WeRide Launches Southeast Asia's First Fully Driverless Robobus in Singapore

WeRide has launched Southeast Asia’s first fully driverless Robobus service at Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, marking a significant milestone as the vehicle operates on public roads without any safety officer onboard. Following a year of successful trials transporting tens of thousands of passengers with a safety officer, WeRide received approval from Singapore’s Land Transport Authority after demonstrating a zero-incident safety record backed by advanced LIDAR, cameras, and 360-degree sensors. The Robobus runs a fixed 12-minute loop connecting key locations within the resort and is part of Singapore’s national plan to integrate autonomous vehicles into its public transport network by the end of 2025. WeRide has also established a local R&D center in partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board to further advance AV technology and foster innovation. Additionally, the company is expanding its autonomous technology applications, including autonomous sanitation vehicles in Singapore and international pilots in regions such as Dubai. This launch exemplifies the collaboration between WeRide and Singaporean regulators to safely transition autonomous driving technology from trials to commercial deployment.
