Queens Man Stabs Mother-in-Law, Injures Teen, Sets Fire Injuring Eight Cops

A tragic domestic violence incident occurred in a Queens neighborhood where a 27-year-old man fatally stabbed his 50-year-old mother-in-law, Qiujin Shi, and wounded her 17-year-old son before setting their home on fire. The attacker, reportedly under the influence of alcohol and amid a divorce, also inflicted wounds on himself and was hospitalized in critical condition while in police custody. Emergency responders treated eight people, including several NYPD officers who suffered smoke inhalation during the fire. The 17-year-old victim was stabilized at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital and is expected to recover. Neighbors described Shi as a hardworking woman who helped build and maintain the family home. Authorities continue to investigate the incident, and no charges have been filed yet against the suspect.
