Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen Visits China After Taiwan Leader's Copenhagen Trip

Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen is set to visit China for high-level meetings marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, following a visit by former Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen to Copenhagen that drew strong criticism from Beijing. During her visit, Tsai accused China of escalating cyber-attacks and military exercises against Taiwan, prompting China to condemn Denmark for hosting her, citing the one-China principle. Rasmussen reaffirmed Denmark's firm one-China policy but acknowledged challenges in relations with China, promoting a pragmatic approach. China expressed readiness to consolidate political trust and deepen cooperation with Denmark, highlighting strong bilateral ties in trade, green development, and multilateralism. The visit is expected to reinforce the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Denmark. Rasmussen will meet with China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Trade Minister Wang Wentao during his visit from May 17 to 20.
