North Korea successfully tested a new tactical ballistic missile, the Hwasongpho-11-Da-4.5, capable of carrying a 4.5-ton super-large warhead, as well as an upgraded strategic cruise missile, during a series of launches overseen by leader Kim Jong Un. The tests were conducted to enhance military capabilities in response to perceived external threats, particularly from the United States and South Korea. Kim emphasized the importance of bolstering the country's military power for self-defense, linking the testing spree to North Korea's ongoing military collaboration with Russia amid stalled diplomatic relations. South Korea's military reported that the missiles flew approximately 400 kilometers east, with the launches aimed at verifying the missiles' accuracy and explosive power. This marks the second missile test from North Korea within a week, following the unveiling of a new uranium enrichment facility.
