Newark Fire Kills 9-Year-Old, Injures Two Children

A 9-year-old girl died and two other children were hospitalized after a fast-moving fire broke out around 1:30 a.m. at a multifamily home on Astor Street in Newark, New Jersey. The blaze engulfed the top floor and caused extensive damage, trapping residents inside. Neighbors and bystanders tried to rescue those trapped but were unable to overcome the intense flames, and first responders arrived quickly to assist.
