SkyWest Secures GE CF34 Engines for 60 Embraer Jets

SkyWest Inc. has finalized a significant agreement with GE Aerospace to supply CF34-8E engines and spares for its order of 60 new Embraer 175 regional jets, with deliveries starting in 2027. This deal continues a long-term partnership that began in 1994, with SkyWest now the world's largest operator of CF34 engines, powering a fleet of over 600 aircraft with more than 1,200 CF34 engines in service. The CF34 engine family is renowned for its high dispatch reliability rate of 99.97% and operational efficiency, and all models are approved for use with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) blends, supporting environmental goals. The order, estimated at around $1.68 billion based on engine pricing, aligns with SkyWest's strategy to modernize and expand its fleet while maintaining operational commonality. Executives from both companies highlighted the CF34’s role as a regional air travel workhorse and the deal’s importance in reinforcing regional connectivity and long-term collaboration. GE Aerospace continues to benefit from strong demand in commercial aviation, despite facing some cost challenges, and its CF34 engine remains a critical component in regional aviation operations.
