Temecula Assault Leads to Fatal Collision, Vista Man Charged with Murder

George Fresquez IV, a 35-year-old man from Temecula, was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead after being assaulted and left in the roadway where he was struck by a vehicle. The incident occurred late at night on Pechanga Parkway near Wolf Valley Road, with deputies discovering Fresquez around 11:50 p.m. Authorities determined that Fresquez sustained traumatic injuries from the assault before being hit by a passing vehicle, whose driver cooperated with the investigation and was not found to be under the influence of alcohol. Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit identified Alex Leyva, 39, of Vista, as the suspect responsible for the assault and arrested him on suspicion of murder, with bail set at $1 million. The case is active and has been forwarded to the Riverside District Attorney's Office, with law enforcement urging anyone with additional information to contact investigators. No other suspects are believed to be involved in the case.
