Yorkshire Water Begins Overnight Road Closures

Motorists in Bradford are advised of overnight road closures on Apperley Road due to sewer relining works by Yorkshire Water, beginning November 18 and expected to conclude by November 22. The £750,000 project is part of a larger £180 million initiative aimed at reducing sewage leaks from storm overflows, with the goal of improving the health of the River Aire. The road will be closed from 23:00 GMT to 06:00 GMT daily, with diversions in place to minimize disruption. Yorkshire Water's project manager, Omair Khan, emphasized the importance of this work in mitigating the impact of storm overflows. This initiative follows previous criticisms and potential fines related to historic sewage spills by the company. Road users and local residents have been thanked for their patience during these necessary improvements.
