Adrien Brody earns Olivier nomination after Oscar win
Adrien Brody, recently awarded best actor at the Oscars for his role in The Brutalist, has received his first nomination for a Laurence Olivier Award for his performance in The Fear of 13, a play about a man wrongfully convicted and spending 22 years on Death Row. He is competing against John Lithgow, Billy Crudup, Paapa Essiedu, and Mark Strong in the best actor category. This year’s Olivier Awards see Fiddler on the Roof leading with 13 nominations, tying the record for most nominations, alongside notable plays like Giant and The Years, each receiving five nominations. Other acting nominees include Lesley Manville and Indira Varma, both nominated for playing Jocasta in different productions of Oedipus. The awards ceremony is scheduled for April 6, hosted by Beverley Knight and Billy Porter. This year, the nominations highlight the intersection of Hollywood and British theatre, with many prominent actors being recognized for their work.
