LG Display begins mass production of 45-inch 5K2K OLED gaming monitors

LG Display has commenced mass production of a groundbreaking 45-inch gaming OLED monitor featuring a 5K2K resolution of 5120x2160 pixels, which boasts over 11 million pixels—more than five times that of FHD monitors. This new panel, achieving a peak brightness of 1,300 nits, emphasizes superior contrast and provides an immersive viewing experience. Utilizing LG's Dynamic Frequency & Resolution (DFR) technology, users can switch between high refresh rates of 330Hz in FHD mode and a resolution of 165Hz in 5K2K mode, catering to different gaming needs. The introduction highlights LG's strategy to dominate the high-end gaming display market amidst a forecasted growth in OLED monitor sales, projected to exceed $1 billion by 2025. These advancements suggest a rapid adoption of OLED technology within the gaming monitor sector, which LG asserts is outpacing previous trends in the television market. The new monitor is set to debut in LG's UltraGear GX9 series later in 2024.
