Sam Rosen to Retire After 40 Seasons
Sam Rosen, the legendary broadcaster for the New York Rangers, announced his retirement after the 2024-25 season, marking his 40th year as the team's play-by-play announcer. Rosen, who turned 77 this week, began his career with MSG Networks in the late 1970s and has been the Rangers' primary voice since 1984. Known for his iconic call during the Rangers' 1994 Stanley Cup victory, Rosen has called over 3,000 games. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016 and the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. Rosen cited the desire to spend more time with his family as a reason for his retirement. His final season will kick off on October 9 against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
