National Banks of Georgia, Armenia Maintain Key Refinancing Rates Unchanged
The Central Bank of Armenia decided to keep its key refinancing rate unchanged at 6.75%, citing persistent global uncertainties and inflationary pressures. Officials pointed to elevated risks from U.S. economic policy, trade tensions, and geopolitical instability, which could impact Armenia's economic growth and inflation outlook. Despite a recent acceleration in inflation to 3.3% in March 2025, core inflation remained below the target, and economic activity moderated as short-term growth drivers faded. The bank emphasized that uncertainties regarding future global demand and supply chain disruptions call for maintaining a cautious monetary policy stance. This decision marks the second consecutive meeting where the rate has been held steady, reflecting a careful approach amid ongoing volatility in the global and domestic economic environment.
