Municipal Elections Held Nov. 4 in NC, SC

Dozens of municipalities across South Carolina and North Carolina held local municipal elections on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025. Polls were open from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and real-time results were posted on WBTV’s county result pages as returns were reported. Voters were assigned a polling place based on their home address and could view sample ballots on the South Carolina Election Commission or North Carolina State Board of Elections websites; North Carolina registered voters could also use the Voter Search portal for polling place, sample ballot, absentee information and voter history. South Carolina’s voter registration deadline was Oct. 5, 2025, and the state does not allow same-day registration; North Carolina’s registration deadline was Oct. 10, 2025, and it permits same-day registration during early voting with required ID and proof of residency. South Carolina voters were reminded to bring an approved photo ID (SC driver’s license, SC DMV ID card, SC voter registration card with photo, federal military ID, or U.S. passport), and North Carolina same-day registrants had to provide current ID and residency documents. Key local contests included Spartanburg County’s sheriff and school board races, multiple open-seat contests, and a proposed $140 million school bond referendum; not all municipalities held elections, and some towns (for example Maiden, Long View and Hickory) span multiple counties with results listed alphabetically by county then by municipality as precincts reported returns.
