Broncos Fire Coach Wilhoite After Arrest Incident

The Denver Broncos have fired outside linebackers coach Michael Wilhoite following his arrest for allegedly assaulting a police officer at Denver International Airport. Wilhoite was charged with second-degree assault on a police officer, obstruction of a peace officer, and criminal mischief after reportedly leaving his vehicle unattended and subsequently engaging in a physical altercation with an officer. According to various sources, after being told by the officer that he couldn't leave his car, Wilhoite used expletive language, chest-bumped the officer, and punched him in the face. The officer then used a Taser on Wilhoite, who drove away but was later apprehended. Head coach Sean Payton stated that the decision to part ways with Wilhoite was made after thorough organizational discussions, recognizing the seriousness of the allegations. Wilhoite, who had been part of Payton's staff for two seasons, is scheduled to appear in court on March 10.
