Jonny Fairplay's Grandmother Dies at 90

Jonny Fairplay, whose real name is Jon Dalton, known for his infamous lie about his grandmother's death on Survivor: Pearl Islands in 2003, confirmed that his grandmother Ellen Jean Hauser has passed away at the age of 90 from kidney failure. Fairplay became notorious when he fabricated his grandmother's death to gain sympathy and win a reward challenge on Survivor, a move host Jeff Probst called 'the greatest lie ever told on Survivor.' Despite the notoriety of the lie, Fairplay described Hauser as a loving grandparent who supported him in life and said she enjoyed the attention from the incident. Hauser was known to have embraced her reality TV fame with a custom license plate reading 'DEAD GMA.' Her death marks the end of a colorful life, during which she had relationships with notable figures such as country star Faron Young and singer Robert Goulet.
