Antrim GAA Player Kavan Keenan Faces Trial Over Hit-and-Run Injury
Kavan Keenan, a 26-year-old Gaelic footballer for the Antrim county team and All Saints GAC, has been charged with causing grievous bodily injury by driving without due care and attention, as well as taking a vehicle without the owner's consent, following a hit-and-run incident on Glenravel Road in Martinstown in October 2024. The incident involved a Peugeot van striking a woman in her 30s, who sustained potentially life-changing injuries. The allegedly stolen van was found later the same evening with front-end damage. Keenan appeared at Ballymena Magistrates Court, confirmed his awareness of the charges, and was granted bail with the case adjourned until September 17, 2025, at Antrim Crown Court. Additionally, Keenan’s father, Joseph Jude John Keenan, was charged with attempting to obstruct a constable in connection with the same incident, with his case adjourned to September 18. The charges highlight a serious legal situation involving the athlete and his family related to the hit-and-run accident.
