Inquiry Reveals Allegations Against UK Special Forces

A public inquiry has revealed serious allegations against a UK special forces unit, UKSF1, accused of executing Afghan civilians, including minors, between 2010 and 2013. Whistleblower N1799 testified that there was a deliberate policy to target all males of fighting age, with reports of civilians being murdered and weapons planted beside their bodies to suggest they were armed. Another officer, N1785, corroborated claims of a culture of impunity within the SAS, asserting that the unit was responsible for extrajudicial killings and had a 'golden pass' to evade accountability. Both officers described methods of execution, such as suffocation, and expressed concerns about being labeled as traitors for coming forward. The inquiry, initiated after a BBC investigation, aims to determine the extent of misconduct and the failure of military leadership to address these issues adequately. Previous investigations, including Operations Northmoor and Cestro, did not result in prosecutions despite similar allegations.
