Drive-By Shooting Wounds Girl in Detroit

On the morning of October 30, a 9-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet in a drive-by shooting while getting ready for school in Detroit. Police Chief James White reported that the girl is expected to recover physically, but the emotional impact could be long-lasting. The shooting occurred shortly after a separate incident where a 3-year-old boy was critically injured by a gunshot wound to the stomach, with conflicting reports from the boy's parents leading to ongoing investigations. The police utilized ShotSpotter technology to detect the gunfire in both cases, and they are currently reviewing security footage to identify the shooter involved in the girl's injury. Chief White emphasized the tragedy of a child being endangered in such situations, stating that she deserves the safety of preparing for school. As of now, no arrests have been made in either case.
