ACC Implements Mandatory Injury Reports, Fines for Multiple Sports

The ACC will require all member schools to release public player availability reports for football, men’s and women’s basketball, and baseball starting this season, with updates provided up to two hours before games. Football injury reports will be released two days before conference games, with updates the day prior and on game day, mirroring NFL-style classifications such as 'probable,' 'questionable,' 'doubtful,' or 'out.' This policy aims to reduce pressure on student-athletes from gamblers seeking inside information and promote transparency across the conference. While coaches expressed no opposition to the change, the ACC plans to impose fines on schools that fail to comply or provide inaccurate reports, though the fine structure is still being finalized. Additionally, the ACC is instituting fines for court and field stormings, with escalating penalties for repeat offenses, emphasizing player and fan safety. These measures follow similar initiatives by the SEC and reflect a broader effort to maintain integrity and safety amid the growing influence of sports wagering.
