BSF and BGB Hold Key Border Meeting

A Sector Commander-level meeting between the Border Security Force (BSF) of India and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held near the Barsora Land Customs Station in Bangladesh to strengthen bilateral ties and address border-related issues. Led by Manoj Kumar Barnwal from the BSF and Md. Saiful Islam Chowdhury from the BGB, the discussions focused on the Coordinated Border Management Plan and mutual concerns, resulting in a commitment to enhance cooperation. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the cordial discussions and praised ongoing efforts to maintain regional tranquility. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold regular coordination meetings in the future. This initiative comes in light of recent political turmoil in Bangladesh, prompting the Meghalaya government to expedite fencing of the Indo-Bangladesh border to manage potential infiltration. Additionally, Bangladesh has lodged a formal protest against the BSF regarding the alleged killing of a minor girl near the border, highlighting ongoing tensions between the two nations.
