Brady Smigiel Decommits from FSU Amid Changes

Florida State University (FSU) faced a setback in their football recruiting as five-star quarterback Brady Smigiel decommitted, reopening his recruitment process. Smigiel, who had an outstanding junior season with over 3,500 passing yards and 49 touchdowns, attracted interest from multiple top programs, including Ohio State and Michigan, following a visit from OSU offensive coordinator Chip Kelly. FSU had a disappointing 2-10 season which led to changes in the coaching staff, including the hiring of Gus Malzahn as offensive coordinator. In response to Smigiel's decommitment, FSU quickly extended an offer to four-star quarterback Bowe Bentley, known for his dual-threat capabilities. Bentley, who recently impressed at the Navy All-American Bowl, has also garnered offers from several major programs, aligning with FSU's strategic shift under Malzahn. The Seminoles are now focused on rebuilding their program, aiming to attract top talent and improve their performance in the upcoming seasons.
