Amy Sherman-Palladino, Ryan Reynolds Produce Live-Action Eloise Movie for Netflix

Amy Sherman-Palladino, creator of Gilmore Girls and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, is directing and co-writing a new live-action film adaptation of the beloved children's book series Eloise for Netflix, starring newcomer Mae Schenk as Eloise and Ryan Reynolds in a villainous role. The film, based on Kay Thompson's books illustrated by Hilary Knight, is set in the Plaza Hotel and features a brand-new story. Ryan Reynolds is also producing through his label Maximum Effort alongside other producers, with MRC overseeing production in collaboration with the Thompson estate, illustrator Knight, and Simon & Schuster. Production is scheduled to begin in November 2025 in London, with a likely release in late 2026 or early 2027. Netflix emphasizes the film's blend of mischief and charm, aiming to reintroduce the cherished character to new generations.
