EXO and aespa File Defamation Lawsuit Against YouTuber

EXO's leader Suho and the K-pop group aespa have filed defamation lawsuits against the controversial YouTuber Sojang, whose real name is Ms. Park, following a pattern of legal actions taken by various K-pop idols against her. The first trial took place on September 2 at the Incheon District Court, where Sojang faces charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection. Reports indicate that Sojang has produced at least 23 defamatory videos targeting multiple celebrities, including BTS members V and Jungkook, resulting in significant profit from her channel. Sojang's defense claims that her content was intended for public interest and was perceived as factual, denying any malicious intent. The legal proceedings reflect a growing backlash against harmful online behavior within the K-pop industry. Previous rulings have seen damages awarded to other celebrities like IVE's Jang Wonyoung, further complicating Sojang's situation as she appeals those decisions.
