Peoria Bar Shooting Kills One, Injures One

A fatal shooting occurred on May 20, 2025, at the Deli Sports Bar near 95th and Peoria Avenues in Peoria, Arizona, where an intoxicated patron, Mario Franco, was refused service and subsequently retrieved a handgun from his vehicle. Franco fired multiple shots into the air and inside the establishment before exchanging gunfire with two armed bystanders in the parking lot, during which he was shot in the chest and died at the scene. One person was also shot in the thigh, treated at a local hospital, and released. Police found Franco in the passenger seat of his vehicle with the two men holding their guns on him; they complied with officers and were disarmed. Authorities described the incident as isolated with no ongoing threat to the community, and investigations are ongoing with no arrests made so far. The victim identities have not been released publicly.
