F-35B conducts first test flights with Meteor missile
Lockheed Martin has successfully completed an initial flight test integrating the Long Range Anti-Ship Missile (LRASM) onto the F-35B Lightning II aircraft, enhancing its offensive anti-surface warfare capabilities. This test, part of the F-35's Block 4 upgrade, aims to improve the aircraft's reach and lethality against strategic targets. Concurrently, a US Marine Corps F-35B has also conducted successful test flights carrying the Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, a significant step in integrating UK weapons onto the aircraft. The collaboration between the US and UK, along with industrial partners like MBDA and Lockheed Martin, highlights the strength of international defense partnerships. These developments collectively enhance the combat capabilities of the F-35B, which is crucial for modern military operations. The integration of these advanced missile systems signifies a substantial leap forward in the multi-role mission capabilities of the F-35 program.
