Over 50 Firefighters Combat Multiple Wildfires Across Northern Ireland

Firefighters in Northern Ireland are currently battling multiple wildfires, including significant incidents on the Black Mountain and in the Mourne Mountains. Over 75 firefighters have been involved in tackling a fire front in the Bloody Bridge area, responding to a total of 240 emergency calls, 27 of which were related to wildfires. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service (NIFRS) has urged the public to avoid these areas and keep windows and doors closed due to low-lying smoke. Sinn Féin MLA Aisling Reilly expressed concern for the environmental impact of the fire on Black Mountain, emphasizing the need for community cooperation. Firefighters are also addressing other emergencies, including a large shed fire in Hillsborough, while police are investigating potential arson in some cases. An amber weather warning for wildfires remains in effect, and the public is advised to exercise caution and adhere to fire safety recommendations.
