Marriott Plans Three Luxury Hotels in Calgary Creating Thousands of Jobs

Marriott International, in partnership with Calgary-based Truman and Louson, announced plans to open three luxury hotels in Calgary's Culture + Entertainment District: W Calgary, JW Marriott Calgary, and an Autograph Collection Hotel. These hotels, expected to open between 2028 and 2030, will be part of a mixed-use development featuring some of Western Canada's tallest residential towers, offering a combined total of over 700 hotel rooms and 360 branded residences. The project represents a $1.47 billion investment poised to significantly boost Calgary's economy by creating approximately 9,100 construction jobs and 2,000 permanent roles, while generating an estimated $231 million annually from GDP and visitor spending. Amenities will include spas, rooftop bars, specialty restaurants, extensive meeting spaces, pools, and retail, aiming to set a new standard for luxury hospitality and residential living in the city. Marriott executives emphasized the strong local partnership and the development's potential to enhance tourism, support local businesses, and contribute to Calgary's vibrant growth. This initiative marks Marriott's first luxury hotel and residential offerings in Calgary, reflecting a strategic expansion to capture high-value business and leisure travelers.
