The Baseball Hall of Fame's Classic Baseball Era Committee has announced eight candidates for induction, including notable players Dick Allen, Dave Parker, and the recently deceased Luis Tiant. This committee evaluates players whose primary contributions were before 1980 and requires a 75% vote for induction. Other candidates include Tommy John, known for the surgery named after him, and Steve Garvey, a former MVP and key player for the Dodgers. Also on the ballot are Ken Boyer, a former NL MVP, and Negro League players John Donaldson and Vic Harris. The committee will meet on December 8 during the winter meetings in Dallas, with results to be announced that day. Inductees will join those elected by the Baseball Writers' Association of America in a ceremony on July 27, 2025.
