Former Olympic cyclist Rohan Dennis received a suspended sentence of one year, four months, and 28 days after pleading guilty to an aggravated act likely to cause harm, following a tragic accident in which his wife, fellow Olympian Melissa Hoskins, was struck by his vehicle and later died. The incident occurred after a domestic argument over kitchen renovations, during which Hoskins jumped onto the car's hood before being dragged and sustaining fatal injuries. Dennis was also placed on a five-year license suspension and a two-year good behavior bond. The court acknowledged Dennis's remorse and personal circumstances, including his role as the sole carer for their young children, leading to the sentence being suspended despite the offense carrying a maximum jail term of seven years.
