Karen Read seeks dismissal of murder charges over alleged misconduct

Karen Read, accused of murdering her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, has filed a motion to dismiss charges on grounds of 'extraordinary governmental misconduct.' Her defense team has requested that parts of the motion be impounded due to sensitive material, including information under federal protective orders. This follows a series of legal maneuvers, including a denied request for additional unredacted police reports. Read’s lawyers are also defending against accusations of undisclosed payments to expert witnesses, which prosecutors argue show bias. While Read claims she was framed, prosecutors allege she struck O’Keefe with her SUV in a drunken state.
