Arajet Launches US Operations, Eyes Pan-American Hub

Arajet, a new ultra-low-cost airline from the Dominican Republic, is set to launch its U.S. operations with flights to Miami and San Juan starting April 11 and June 5, respectively. The airline aims to provide affordable travel options, with one-way fares beginning at $84, targeting both tourists and the Dominican diaspora. Arajet plans to connect Santo Domingo and Punta Cana to various destinations in the Caribbean, Central, and South America, expanding its reach to 26 destinations across 17 countries. CEO Victor Pacheco emphasized the airline's goal to establish Santo Domingo as a key travel hub akin to Copa Airlines' hub in Panama. The launch is anticipated to stimulate tourism and economic growth, particularly in Puerto Rico, where the new routes could add approximately 58,000 seats to the market. Despite entering a competitive market with established carriers, Arajet's Dominican roots position it as a favorable option for travelers.
