Canada, Yukon Invest $75 Million in Whitehorse Convention Centre

The Canadian and Yukon governments have announced a $75 million investment to build the Yukon Gathering Place, a new convention center in Whitehorse, aimed at enhancing the territory's capacity to host events and boost tourism. The federal government will contribute $56.25 million, with the Yukon government covering the remainder. Located next to the Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre, the facility will accommodate up to 1,000 people and is expected to foster economic growth and job creation in the region. The Kwanlin Dün First Nation will own the center, which highlights Indigenous leadership and will serve as a hub for cultural celebrations and gatherings. Officials emphasize that the project will attract national and international visitors, showcasing Yukon's unique culture and natural beauty.
