Woman dies, another hospitalized after nitrogen leak in Paris gym

A tragic incident at the On Air gym in Paris led to the death of a 29-year-old employee and left a 34-year-old client in critical condition after a nitrogen leak during a cryotherapy session. Both women collapsed due to oxygen displacement caused by the leak, which occurred shortly after the chamber had been repaired. Emergency services were unable to revive the employee, while the client was rushed to a nearby hospital. In total, three other staff members required treatment for minor injuries, and about 150 people were evacuated from the gym. French authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, which included an autopsy and toxicology tests to determine the exact cause of death. Cryotherapy, popular among athletes for its purported benefits, has faced scrutiny due to safety concerns and a history of accidents, including a past fatality in Las Vegas in 2015.
