Violent protests erupted in Nandanagar, Uttarakhand, following allegations that a 19-year-old barber, Arif Khan, molested a 14-year-old girl on August 22. The incident came to light on August 31 after the girl's father filed a complaint with the police. In response, local residents, demanding justice, vandalized shops owned by Muslims, with reports indicating that between six to ten shops were targeted during the unrest. The police have charged Khan under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, but he has since fled to Uttar Pradesh.
