The Odisha government has initiated a test transaction by transferring Re 1 to the bank accounts of beneficiaries of the Subhadra Yojana ahead of its official launch on September 17, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will announce the scheme. Approximately 60 lakh women have registered for the program, which aims to empower women by providing financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually, distributed in two installments over five years. Those who apply before September 15 will receive their first installment of Rs 5,000 on the launch day, with assurances that the registration process will continue for late applicants. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida emphasized the importance of verifying bank accounts to prevent misuse of funds and encouraged women to apply without delay. A series of awareness campaigns, including padayatras across 10,000 locations, are being organized to promote the scheme. This initiative reflects the government's commitment to women's empowerment and development in Odisha.
